Biodiesel

Biodiesel is a renewable diesel fuel alternative made from crops such as soybeans produced by separating glycerin from oil.

Europe produces the majority of today’s biodiesel, with over 660 million gallons produced by Germany alone in 2006. The U.S. is the world’s second-highest volume biodiesel producer, tripling production to 75 million gallons between 2004 and 2005. There are over 150 biodiesel plants operating in the U.S. and capacity for biodiesel production is anticipated to meet or exceed 1.7 billion gallons by mid-2008.
